I am a great admirer of trumpet vases and acquire them when they present themselves within my budget with the thoughts of resale. However, until they do sell, I happily use them throughout my home with great appreciation.
I found this one, an early piece made by the Barbour Silver Co. of Hartford, Connecticut, at a Memphis estate sale recently. It is just wonderful! At 17" tall, it is VERY impressive, with or without flowers. It has a beautifully etched monogram of LFM. Old monograms should not prevent you from purchasing what you love. They add to the charm, in my opinion.
The vase is hexagonal in shape with a 6" base; 2 1/2" top opening. It is in really fine vintage condition. There are a couple of pinpoint marks and minor surface marks from polishing. I think you will be more than pleased if you decide to purchase this gem. It is a substantial piece, weighing almost 3#. FREE US shipping!
